INIMICIZIE STORICHE E SVILUPPI NUCLEARI IN ESTREMO ORIENTE
Should we fear a new nuclear arms race? With Mirco Elena
Following the developments in North Korea, Japan could be the next nuclear power in eastern Asia. In this case a dangerous arms race is likely, with reinforcement of China’s arsenals and the probable beginning of a nuclear weapons programme by South Korea, Taiwan and potentially also other nations in the area. This is also a result of the historic enmity between many of the countries, exacerbated by a lack of clear acceptance of responsibility by the Japanese government for war crimes committed by Japanese troops before and during the Second World War.
