Climbing in Patagonia has been shown to be difficult and dangerous, due to the distance from support camps and the instability of the weather. On the strength of direct experience, the director intertwines the endeavours of one of the pioneers, the ‘Spider of Lecco’ Casimiro Ferrari, with those of the young Matteo della Bordella, who relives his feats in ultra-modern style. The aesthetic appeal and dramatic nature of the events remain unchanged over time.
