MULTIFUNCTIONAL METAMATERIALS AND METASTRUCTURES

How can we made buildings greener and more "intelligent" in terms of acoustic and seismic features, energy and connectivity? Research carried out at the University of Trento dedicated to the subject of "multifunctional metamaterials and metastructures" deals with this challenge by exploiting a transdisciplinary approach in order to design and produce "skins" and artificial structures that can improve thermal and acoustic insulation, increase energy efficiency, and guarantee better wireless connectivity to inhabitants, while at the same time reducing the overall carbon footprint.
