L'ABBRACCIO DELL'HINDU KUSH
Bulgaria / 1977 / 45'
In the summer of 1976 the Bulgarian Mountaineering Federation organized an expedition, outside Europe, to the mountain chain of Hindu Kush in Afghanistan. The twenty-two members of the expedition (climbers, technicians, and scientif researchers) travelled to Afghanistan by air. All of them had one purpose only: the conquest of Mount Noshak which reaches an altitude of 7420 metres. The expedition had to make a long tiring journey before reaching the mountainous area chosen for the climb. This was possible thanks to the Afghan carriers who did everything they could to give help during the long march. As soon as the various base camps had been arranged and the severe environmental difficulties had been overcomed, the climbers faced ant conquered Mount Noshak, reaching the summit on 16th July 1976.
