CLAUDE PAVARD

France / 1981 / 52'

The island of Aldabra is part of the Seychelles archipelago. It is a desert island but important for scientific research and nature preservation as are the Galapagos in the Pacific Ocean. Cousteau shot the film "The world of silence" there in 1955. It is the largest reserve of giant tortoises in the world (150,000 specimens). This film is the first great document made on the island of Aldabra by the English and French scirntists who collaborated with Cousteau.
