Gaston Rebuffat is a mythical celebrity in mountaineering history. His figure, his gait and his easy manner on the rocks and ice made him a classical example of a guide. First in the Calanques near Marseilles and then in Chamonix in the Mont Blanc mountain, Gaston Rebuffat was a guide for over 40 years.He died of an illness in1985. Besides being the fist to climb many places in the Alps, he was also a talented writer, a film-maker and an interesting speaker. His activity has inspired many climbers.
