IL CAVALLO DALLE ORECCHIE LUNGHE
Italy / 1996 / 28'
The Russians called the mule, brought to the Don by the alpine soldiers in the Second World War, the long-eared horse. The documentary effectively narrates the story of four surviving mules and their keepers. It’s a march through time underlining the relationship between man and animal in times of duress, often at the limit of the impossible, of risk, heroism and cooperation. It’s also an expression of the alpine soldier’s gratitude for the irreplaceable support the mule provided for over a century.
