KRNACKY MILANA CILLIKA
Slovakia / 1995 / 20'
In the village of Turecka, in the heart of the Slovenian mountains, the decision to organize a special downhill race on the snow using the old wooden equipment of the peasants started a popular new tradition. Wooden baths, boards in the shape of skis called Krnacky, and sledges can be used to descend the snow covered slopes. The race attracts an enthusiastic public, not only from the surrounding district but also from abroad. In Milan Cilik’s family this tradition, handed down from father to son, has lasted over thirty years. It’s a sport that has now caught on in other localities near Turecka and is rapidly spreading.
