Switzerland / 1995 / 85'
The film makes fun of today’s idea of one’s native country and guides us through real and unreal worlds. A Swiss yodel singer living in California, where for years he has sung in the language of his fathers, love Switzerland, which he knows only from the stories, and records he has heard. He yearns for the Swiss mountains while he is performing backcloth portraying the Matterhorn in Disneyland. The Matterhorn is the visible leitmotiv of this film on the real and imaginary homeland, Switzerland, which is presented in many ways, through discussion, song, true documentation and tricks.
