A STRENGTH FOR LIFE
United Kingdom / 2002 / 20'
The documentary illustrates the expedition of English friends to Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest mountain. The British mountaineer Tony Ward sets his sights on this attempt with a strong desire to live: in fact he suffers chronic renal failure and now has to spend ten hours every day on dialysis, awaiting a kidney transplant.
Prior to his illness Tony spent much of his life in the mountains, also as a guide, together with other friends, like Simon Baker who accompanies him on this expedition and films the attempt. Mark Turnball, who won a Gold Gentian for the best mountaineering film at the Trento Festival in 2001, steps in to provide the post production.
The three day expedition also proposes to achieve the record for the world’s highest kidney dialysis exchange.
