ALLES IM LEBEN LAUFT “UBER DAS SKIFAHREN...”

GERALD LEHNER

Austria / 2002 / 5'

The documentary is a portrait of Otto Lang, a ski instructor and successful film director in Hollywood. To mark Otto Lang’s 95th birthday, Gerald Lehner retraced the stages in the life of this versatile personality who, after emigrating from Hitler’s Austria, in 1939, helped to make skiing popular in the United States. The film is a homage to Otto Lang whose name has long been forgotten in Austria, but who in America, his adoptive country, enjoys great fame as a director, producer, writer and pioneer of skiing. Lang collaborated as director in the famous television series "Daktari", which in the seventies captivated thousands of children. Lang also produced the first American film on Pearl Harbour. He worked with the actors James Stewart and James Mason for the 20th Century Fox and received four Oscar nominations.
