RHYTHMS OF LIFE
Italy / 2002 / 12'
the film director Hubert Schonegger and the composer Hanjorg Mutschlechner have followed mountain farmers and observed them in their work throughout the season. Up there, where you can see the eagle circling majestically and a light breeze turns into a lashing wind that portends a storm.. Each sequence of the film captures Schonegger's attention for detail and his awareness for nature, his partiality for impressionistic-naturalistic shots. The music is a tribute to the indescribable and exceptional beauty of nature, to the still unspoilt Alpine world, as opposed to the hectic life of our time. The solemn notes immediately give us the sense of the indissoluble ties in which the fatigue and dignity of daily work, the value of tradition, the profound piety and arcane magic of the immutable laws of nature are woven together with the cyclical alternation of the season.
