SO WEIT DIE FUSSE TRAGEN
Germany / 2001 / 158'
The story is based on a famous novel by Josef Martin Bauer, who narrates with great dramatic intensity the incredible journey of the German soldier, Clemens Forell, in his escape from a Siberian labour camp after the Second World War. During the cold winter months Forell makes his way across endless desolate landscapes, escaping threatening adventures, determined to return to his beloved family. Step by step and day by day, the German soldier slowly moves towards Persia and his longed-for freedom. After 8000 miles and three endless years of uncertainty, Forell is finally about to reach his destination... The film celebrates the power of the human spirit and the force of will inspired by love.
