DALAI LAMA RENAISSANCE
United States / 2007 / 81'
At the edge of the new millennium, the Dalai Lama of Tibet invited 40 of the Western leading and most innovative thinkers in their respective fields to his residence tucked away in the Himalayan mountains of Northern India, to discuss the world’s problems and how they can solve them. This meeting brought about something unexpected and powerful, which was filmed by a crew of 18 people using 5 cameras. The Wakan Foundation for the Arts took the crew to India and shot more than 140 hours of video during the week-long meeting and exploration of the future of mankind-- sufficiently gripping and beautiful to make a powerful and cinematic programme. The resulting feature-length documentary, Dalai Lama Renaissance has already received a very positive response after its release and wide distribution in the second half of 2007. Dalai Lama Renaissance is narrated by actor Harrison Ford.
