Andy Parkin: A Life In Adaptation

David Fair

United Kingdom / 2008 / 30'

Andy Parkin was considered one of the best mountaineers worldwide, but in 1984 he had a dramatic accident during an ascent of the Alps, which would cause him severe physical injuries and put an end to his career forever. During his rehabilitation, Andy dedicated himself to painting and sculpture, making his beloved mountain his favourite subject. Today Andy is famous for his art and almost nobody remembers his past mountaineering career. Unbelievably, in the meantime Andy has learned again how to climb, over the years adapting his style to the limits of his body. Shot over a period of fifteen months, the film tells of the life and work of this extraordinary man and how his love for the mountain deeply inspired him and gave him a second chance in life. Some famous mountaineers such as Simon Yates, Victor Saunders and Thierry Renualt also take part in the interviews.
