A thousand autumns
United States / 2015 / 17' / Italian premiere
The rettir is one of the oldest Icelandic traditions and has continued through the centuries, since the first human settlements on the island: every September, farmers set off to gather their livestock together and take the animals to more protected areas for the winter, saying goodbye to friends and relatives before facing a journey full of perils.
A historic photographer with National Geographic, he began visiting Iceland in 1986. He has been nominated Travel Photographer of the Year three times and has directed numerous documentaries.
