Voytek Kurtyka is one of the greatest climbers of all time. Shy and reserved by nature, for twenty years he has declined innumerable invitations and public appearances and interviews, creating an air of mystery around him that has increased his legendary status. In 2016 he was awarded the Piolet d'Or lifetime achievement award, a prize that he had declined repeatedly before being convincing to accept it.
