On the classic Welzenbach scale, grade VI was identified as the “the limit of human possibility”. This is inevitably an ambiguous and enigmatic definition, which however well represents the idea of climbing as a contest with the impossible. The journalist Serafino Ripamonti retraces the history of this iconic goal, in a discussion with Mirco Grasso, Matteo De Zaiacomo and François Cazzanelli, three young climbers who continue the eternal search for the ultimate limit.
