An elderly antique dealer of Scottish origin, who moved to Patagonia, opposes along with his two teenage children the construction of an airport that would benefit a multinational tourism company. On his property he builds a fence ("alambrado" in Spanish) and defends it vigorously, while a constant wind blows relentlessly. The striking debut of Marco Bechis presented in competition at the Locarno Festival in 1991, the first chapter of a series of films, including Garage Olimpo (1999) and Hijos (2001), that have dealt with Argentine history, partially experienced by the director personally.
