At the beginning of the 20th century, there were still many adventurers in western America searching for fortune, for example by participating in the legendary “Western Press” long-distance race across 700 miles of the American landscape, from the mountains to the desert. It is an adventure film with an exceptional cast, offering an opportunity to pay homage to the recently departed Gene Hackman in the starring role. Filmed partly in the Carson National Forest in New Mexico and in the Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada.

Richard Brooks (1912 – 1992). A versatile director and screenwriter, great humanist and excellent director of actors, he often tackled theatrical and literary texts in his films, but he did not scorn other genres, from the political thriller WRONG IS RIGHT (1982) to the Western BITE THE BULLET (1975).
