Jeremiah Johnson (Robert Redford), tired of his worldly life, retreats to the Rocky Mountains to be a trapper. His new existence sees him starting a family, by adopting an orphan and marrying the daughter of an Indian chief. When other natives kill both out of revenge, he begins his own personal war against the hostile tribe. Based on a screenplay by John Milius, it was filmed in several locations in Utah including Mount Timpanogos and the Wasatch-Cache National Forest.
