THE HUNTERS
J.K. Marshall, Robert Gardner
United States / 1957 / 70'
The documentary presents, analytically, the daily life of nomadic blacks in the African Kalahari Desert. The hostility of the environment imposes on man a fierce struggle to survive: the existence of the hunter, his wife, and children depends on the attention paid during an ambush, the precision of a spear or arrow shot, the timeliness of a knife strike. Yet, even amid these brutal daily necessities, the lyrical and human motifs of family affections flourish in the cinematic narrative.
