In mid-February this year, departing from the village of Grindelwald, mountaineers Jorg Lehne from Rosenheim, Siegfried Low from Salzburg and mountaineer-operator Lothar Brandler, a resident of Munich, repeated the winter ascent - several times dramatically attempted and never completed - of the north face of the Eiger, in the Swiss Oberland region; but, having passed 700 of the 1,600-meter cliff, they had to give up, overcome by the weather and the conformation of the frozen rock. The attempt was also filmed from a distance, by Wolfgang Gorter's telephoto lens "camera," placed below on the Rote Fluh.
