A detailed reportage on life in the Galapagos archipelago.
The film begins with a look at the "guano islands" and the habits of the "cormorants," the birds that produce it.
The camera then sweeps across the entire archipelago, attentive to the manifestations of human and animal life along the equator.
Sielmann and Philipp inspect the seabed, capturing aspects of lake life at medium depths, and then focusing on a prehistoric animal (the "iguano") that has survived to this day and may represent the link between marine and terrestrial species.
In the final part of this journey, the explorers enter the forest, encounter primitive tribes with unique habits, and linger on the most interesting aspects of the mysterious and tireless activity of tropical animals.
