Iceland, the land of ice, continues to be a land of great contrasts. Although nine parts of its surface are covered in ice, hot springs can be found even at the highest peaks, such as Kerfingarfjöll on the island's central plateau. Hot springs, solfataras, and geysers are, in fact, one of the main features of Icelandic nature.
Now, humans are studying ways to use them not only for therapeutic purposes but also for industrial purposes.
