On June 27th 1889, two years after having explored the Bramabiau chasm, Edouard Alfred Marteò prepares to probe the huge Rabanel chasm. He sets up a proper expedition and faces the enormous abyss that opens in the side of Séranne, a few kilometers from Gauge. Old superstitions and macabre legends add to the difficulties of the venture which was extraordinary considering the time at which it was accomplished.
