There is still a large green belt in the heart of the Venice region: the Asiago plateau that extends over a thousand sq km. It is populated by people who are proud of their traditions and history that covers five centuries of autonomy and self-government. In spite of the means of communication and the inevitable levelling caused by mass media, the Asiago plateau is still a Community.
