There is a region in Tessaglia, north Greece, that has become famous for its natural history and the monasteries of Meteora. From the mountaineering point of view the territory was unknown until 1975 when a group of Bavarian mountaineers led by Dietrich Hasse began a careful exploration of the towers and walls. The film illustrates the countryside, nature and history of the monastic society that created a particular atmosphere between man and nature.
