The internationally famous Swiss pilot of the Himalayas, Emil Wick, lands at Shangboche in eastern Nepal, at an altitude of 3700m. While the plane, a Pilatus, is being checked to take off again, Emil Wick talks to the tourists and and alpine guides of various nationalities. The Swiss expedition to the Himalaya in 1960 is recalled, when the first ascent of Dhaulagiri was made thanks to an aeroplane that was used for landing on the snow and ice. The film is a mixture of historical and present day scenes.
