We europeans know very little about the culture of Perù: Incas, Cuzco, Machu Picchu, Nazca-and nothing else. Yet the Incas appeared in Perù in the early XIIIth century and during the 270 years of their existance they had a huge empire for not more than 70 years. The particular environmental features of Perù - the desert stretching to the Pcific ocean, mountains 6000 metres high, the jungle -were decisive factors in the formation of the native culture. The documentary, in seven parts, talks about these things. Among the mountains, 3 and 4 thousand metres high, the snow and ice ought to be a normal sight, instead in the Peruvian Andes the people live among greenery.
