For centuries blocks of precious white marble have been extracted from the Carrara marble caves, north of Pisa, and they have been used by sculptors to make the most beautiful statues in the world. The film describes the work of these cavemen who penetrate the heart of the mountain and extract huge blocks of high quality white marble, which will later be prepared by artisans for buildings or by sculptors for works of art.
