At Grosio, in Upper Valtellina, in the province of Sondrio, bells were still being made in 1955 in an old forge that had been working for over 300 years. The first part of the film shows the work, the preparation of the shapes, the smelting and lastly the transportation. The second part, filmed forty years later, at Albino, in Val Seriana, in the province of Bergamo, shows the activity of the last bell ringers, that was once a real profession and is now disappearing.
