Zanskar, in North East of India, is a 4,000 metre high plateau in the Himalayas. At the beginning of winter the cold and snow isolates the plateau from the rest of the world for many months. The film was made, during this six-month period of isolation, in the small village of Karcha inhabited by 500 people. It fallows the daily life of the young and old, their sexual customs, fear of death, family organization and work, their thoughts and ideas about the modern world.
