The Grand Rocher in the French Alps is populated by a large colony of marmots that come out of hibernation in springtime and enliven the mountainside still covered in snow. Sometimes the marmots descend to cultivated areas and upset the work of man who captures them and takes them back to the altitude and environment that suits them best.
