Fiction and ‘fantasy’ are mixed in this documentary to narrate a real mountaineering feat. Four Russian climbers, Anatoly Moshnickov, Alexander Klenov, Nickolay Totmiynin and Victor Volodin are tackling “The winter dreams”, an extreme ascent on Mount Urrial, in Spain. Sixty-nine days on the face, probably a record. But the film does not only illustrate this sensational attempt, it also investigates the psychological aspects of the relationship between men in extreme situations and the anxiety of those who are at home waiting for them.
