The resonant spruce, in the Paneveggio forests in upper Val di Fiemme in Trentino, provides the best wood for making the soundboxes of string instuments and pianos, etc. Three centuries ago Stradivari came here to choose the wood for his violins and now an expert from Desio still comes here in search of this particular wood.
He is one of twelve craftsmen in the world who does this very difficult job. The film follows him during the selection and when he meets a Swiss client of the Ticino Canton who makes guitars and finally when the musician uses the instrument.
