Jure is a young speleologist who invents a strange and difficult method of mountaineering preparation by letting himself down and then climbing up the high walls of a railway bridge. He longs to reach the bottom of a vertical cave, 643 metres deep, in the Slovenia mountains. At last he achieves his aim in winter, together with a group of speleologists from the Czech Republic, but not without unexpected occurrences and difficulty.
