The Swiss Canton of Grisons has 187,100 inhabitants and covers about 7,100 sq.km, a sixth of the Swiss territory. It is the only Swiss Canton in which three languages are spoken: German, Rhaeto-Roman, Italian. This particular linguistic area also features a cultural variety. 43% of the Grisons population lives at an altitude over 1,000 metres, while in the rest of Switzerland the average is only 2,3%. Ten men of the Grisons talk about their relationship with the mountains. In mythology, the mountain groups surrounding the landscape were often thought of as being the home of the gods, but for the people working here today, the mountains offer employment, sport and entertainment.
