The director leads us to the heart of the Alps in order to document the story of a group of people that are keeping their fathers’ heritage alive. Every year, on the first of August, a Swiss bank holiday, the “Wildheuer” climb the steep mountains of Hinteren Heubrig, equipped with scythes and nailed wooden boots, like those used by their ancestors. They belong to a generation that has lived a constant challenge with nature’s power, thus managing to survive with strength and dignity. This film, where realism and poetry intermingle, lets us perceive the experience of these people’s simple life and the foundations of human existence.
