Set in the extraordinary background of the Himalayas, Blindsight deals with the engaging adventure of six Tibetan teen-agers who are getting ready to ascend the Lhakpa Ri on the North wall of Mount Everest. It is a dangerous enterprise that soon reveals itself as an impossible challenge, considering that all the youngsters are visually handicapped. Part of the Tibetan society considers them possessed by the devil and, despised by their village and rejected by society, their families keep them hidden. These youngsters find shelter with Sabriye Tenberken, a visually handicapped educator who founded the first school for visually handicapped people in Lhasa. After being told about the conquest of Everest made by Erik Weihenmayer, himself visually handicapped, the students invite the famous climber to visit their school. Upon his arrival in Lhasa, Erik suggests to Sabriye and her students Kyila, Sonam Bhumtso, Tashi, Gyenshen, Dachung and Tenzin that he could take them climbing. He encourages them to climb heights that none of them would have dared or dreamt of achieving.
