In the remote community of Rio Grande, a father, Avelino Vega, must face the hills, the cold and the dark of the night to save the life of Nely, his seriously ill daughter. A long ten- hour journey to reach the nearest hospital, a fight against time, nature and poverty. The film is based on a true story.

Francis Estrada
Born in Buenos Aires in 1964, he studied music at the UCA, Università Cattolica Argentina, and obtained a degree in history from the UBA, University of Buenos Aires. He has worked as a cameraman for various television channels, directed musical video clips and commercials for the world of film. He wrote and directed an institutional film for the national senate. "El viaje de Avelino" is his first full-length film.
