The biography of an illustrious and little known figure from Trentino and his botanical expedition to the Oaxaca coast, passing through the Sierra Madre in Mexico. At the age of 17, the pragmatic Cassiano Conzatti emigrated to Mexico as a colonialist farmer, destined to found the Colonia Manuel González. Decidedly inclined towards an academic career, he concluded his university studies in Jalapa. Here he combined his educational commitments, his interest in the cultural and ecological education of the natives and his passion for botany. These three guiding threads also involved his family, which was there to support him in the many difficult times. However, each time that he succeeded in putting his ideas into practice, the result was destroyed by ignorance and the lack of understanding demonstrated by certain Mexican officials in a period of tumult and political and social renovation.
