Province of Reggio Calabria: the women working to harvest the olives are obliged to put up with back-breaking toil. Osteoarthritis and anaemia (caused by a parasite) are common diseases for them, while workplace protection is just a mirage. Their husbands have almost always emigrated abroad and the burden of the family lies entirely on their shoulders.
