To date more than 11 million Indians have been forced to abandon their homes following the construction of large dams, a number destined to increase further following the decision to raise the water level at the Onkareshwar dam. This situation has seen the support of the Indian governmental authorities, along with teams of bankers and investors, who obtain enormous profits from these operations, disregarding and indifferent to the lives of the poor, whose rights are trampled on.
