In summer 2014 a Maasai girl joins a ‘bergera’ (shepherdess) at pastures in the Maritime Alps. Two women very different in terms of origin, age and language, experience the alpine pasture season together, sharing the work and recounting their stories. The Maasai and Bergé are similar peoples, marked by a parallel history: both are nomadic shepherds and for this reason they have often experienced the hostility of local populations. Today the Maasai and Bergè find themselves walking a delicate tightrope, on the borderline between tradition and modernity.
