In the desert, a man extracts stones from a mountain and breaks them. His perpetual labour becomes an act of meditation, a demonstration of human dignity in its most austere form. At once poetic and yet purely documentary, this desolate scene points out humanity’s place in the universe.

Driss Aroussi
Driss Aroussi was born in Fezna, Errachidia in Morocco in 1979. He lives and works in Marseilles. His work explores and combines numerous areas, ranging from experimental projects to documentaries. He makes recourse to techniques such as photography and video-making, allowing him to reproduce and grasp reality. Sisyphe is his first short film.
