In the district of Katanga, in Addis Ababa, Amele Mamo’s hostel offers a bed and a warm meal for people seeking refuge in the large Ethiopian capital. Every day sees the arrival of a new person, a new experience, a new story. The two Ethiopian filmmakers, Hiwot Gataneh and Beza Hailu Lemma, alternate between three places – the city, the district and the hostel – delicately relating what it means to occupy new living spaces, and the importance of the space we call “home”.
