1899. On a stormy night, Aimée, a young Republican schoolteacher, arrives in a snowy hamlet on the edge of the Hautes-Alpes on the border between France and Italy. Despite the mistrust of the inhabitants, she is determined to shed light on their dark beliefs. As she becomes integrated into the life of the community, a sensual exhilaration grows within her. Louise Hémon directs films and stage plays. Her documentaries include L'HOMME LE PLUS FORT (Hot Docs-Toronto, FIFIB-Bordeaux, diff. Arte), MADAME ANITA CONTI'S DOCUMENTARY JOURNEY (Visions du Réel-Nyon, Prix du Public at Champs-Elysées Film Festival, Grand Prix at Festival Archivio Aperto-Bologna). Blending documentary and fiction, her video work has been shown by the Centre Pompidou, Fondation Hermès and Fondation Lafayette Anticipations. L'ENGLOUTIE is her first feature film.
