“There were fairies before the fear and condemnation. They lived in the woods and mountains, in ancient stories, in hidden tales and in the plants. Protective and dangerous, linked to mankind, grasses, beasts, the wind, rocks and earth, they rode in the night.” Together with a group of women, Laura Rositani, an independent editor, will present the book drawn up for the project “Once there was magic”, taking us on a journey made up of narration and connections to other women’s stories, tales from our past that can also have much to say about the present day. She will open the magic circle by reading and listening to the spells, letters, new proverbs, desires and obscurity contained in the collection. ONCE THERE WAS MAGIC is a project involving a group of twenty women in a narrative and artistic process exploring different ways of writing and drawing to conceive a new way of recounting the mountains, starting from mountain stories, legends and mythology linked to alpine areas. Wonderful creatures with spiritual ties, in part supernatural and magical, sensitive and obscure repositories of knowledge, they lived in an invented landscape, creating a new reality inside a magic circle that on this occasion is opened up to the public. There will be moments for collective listening, under the protection of the large textile/patchwork creation made by the group at the various meetings: images and designs that come together with writing and creative thinking exercises, opening up to new fantastical visions.
