Trento Film Festival with Festivalscope Pro for the international promotion of Italian cinema and territory

In addition to the hybrid festival, presented both in cinemas and online, among the novelties of the 2020 edition also the collaboration with the film industry platform Festivalscope Pro, to promote the cinematic representation of the Italian territory and support the international visibility of the works screened in Trento

The new feature of the Trento Film Festival online, with almost the entire film program available for the first time also on the streaming platform of the festival, which registered a success and approval well beyond the best expectations, is not the only new digital initiative taken on the occasion of the 68th edition.

The Trento Film Festival is partnering for the first time with Festivalscope Pro, the leading industry platform for independent and auteur cinema, aimed at producers, distributors, directors and programmers of festivals and events, which allows tens of thousands of professionals around the world to conveniently preview online the content presented by selected festivals, to discover new works and talents, contact rights holders and filmmakers directly, and view exclusive content.

At the end of the 68th edition, on Festivalscope Pro made its debut a showcase allowing the Trento festival to feature for one year a selection of works from the 2020 program, across different sections, focusing on documentaries and shorts portraying the Italian landscape and territory, whose presence in the 68th edition was particularly exciting, rich and varied.

The films available on Festivalscope Pro are, from the Competition: Sicherheit 123 by Florian Kofler and Julia Gutweniger (Silver Gentian for the best technical-artistic contribution), Noci sonanti by Damiano Giacomelli and Lorenzo Raponi, and the short films Carie by Achille Mauri and Pratomagno by Gianfranco Bonadies and Paolo Martino. From the High Lands sidebar: Prima che arrivi l’estate by Francesco Di Martino, Il passo dell’acqua by Antonio Di Biase, Sotto le stelle fredde by Stefano Giacomuzzi, Fango rosso by Alberto Diana, Senza tempo by Giuseppe Valentino, Vulnerabile bellezza by Manuele Mandolesi, plus the short films Di acqua, di fuoco e quello che resta by Matteo Ninni and Padenti – Foresta by Marco Antonio Pani. From the Near Horizons sidebar, Con le mie mani by Mattia Venturi completes the showcase line-up.

Producers and directors can thus take advantage of an additional springboard guaranteed by the selection at the Trento Film Festival, and since the majority of these films have not yet had international premieres or distribution, this will represent the first promotional chance outside Italy, moreover in a year in which the cancellation of many festivals has unfortunately made the opportunities for visibility more scarce.

The aim of this new initiative is to strengthen the role of the festival in the promotion of Italian cinema abroad, already confirmed in recent years by the many international invitations and awards to works premiered and screened in Trento.
